About
Jaymie Ang Henry MD, MPH is a force in the world of Global Surgery. Her many achievements and accomplishments are an aside to her driven approach in bringing her mission to bring Surgery to the Global Health stage.
An award-winning author, researcher, advocate, and thought leader, her focus has been on public health and diplomacy in Global Surgery. She has pioneered multiple advocacy and on the ground work on Essential Surgery, Neglected Surgical Conditions, and Global Surgery in international venues such as the WHO and the UN, surgical capacity building efforts in countries such as Kenya and the Philippines, country-level government advocacy in the US, UK, Kenya, Philippines, Fiji, Mexico, and the Global Surgery community. She is the co-founder and Founding Executive Director of the Global Alliance for Surgical, Obstetric, Trauma, and Anaesthesia Care (G4 Alliance) and the International Collaboration for Essential Surgery (ICES). Her background with the World Health Organization Patient Safety Programme (PSP) and the Global Initiative for Emergency and Essential Surgical Care (GIEESC) provided the foundation for her mission. She was the first to bring surgical issues to the UN SDG conversation, hosting high-level events with country partners, and continues to represent the only surgical organization at the UN.
Of her many accomplishments, she is most honored to have been granted the President of the Philippines’ Award for Outstanding Leadership and as one of the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines finalists by the Philippine Government. She has been featured at Newsweek and Forbes as an Icon of Impact.
Actively involved in conferences as a sought-after speaker and lecturer, Jaymie was a panelist at the World Social Business Day with Muhammad Yunus and a Global Surgery lecturer at UC Berkeley, American College of Surgeons, American Public Health Association (APHA) conference, and various international venues.
Jaymie’s accomplishments have opened doors nationally and internationally as she collaborates with healthcare professionals, non-profits and institutions to raise the profile of essential affordable surgical services as a public health intervention to save lives and prevent permanent disability worldwide. She is the executive producer, writer and director of the Global Surgery film, “The Right to Heal.”
Jaymie continues to collaborate with global leaders to move this mission forward and welcomes the tutelage and support of those in a position to aid and assist.
