Thoracoscopic Segmentectomy for Pulmonary Sequestration

A 50-year-old woman was referred to the authors’ department with an intralobar sequestration, diagnosed in the context of recurrent pulmonary infections. A chest computed tomographic scan, with 3-dimensional reconstruction and intravenous contrast, showed a lobulated pulmonary mass occupying the posterior and lateral segments of the left lower lobe. The mass was fed by a huge aberrant systemic vessel arising from the thoracic aorta. Considering the benign condition of this unusual congenital lung malformation, a 9-10 segmentectomy was planned and performed.
